Plastic Check Valve on Hot Water Tank 2020 350M

Just over a year old and had water coming in the camper. Called a mobile service company and it was the hot water outlet check valve. AND IT's Plastic. Think of the money they saved by not using brass,LoL. Also had a "finger" leak on the low point drain because the Pex was a tight 90 to a barbed fitting. Added brass 90's. Only $350 in repairs and I did all the work taking the garage apart to get to the HWT and pulling the water panel and putting all back together.
I would suggest you change that plastic valve as soon as permissible because it will fail and is a fairly tough job on the road.

I replaced our leaking one with brass a year ago when the plastic one leaked.

Yeah, this is a pretty standard recommendation here to change it out. Carrying a spare also sage advice because it's always a Sunday issue!

Geotex, do you have link to a brass valve? I don't know thread size, but would like to have one just in case. I guess they used a thread sealer on the plastic one, so is it fairly easy to remove?

Plastic valve failed on our third trip. Replaced with brass and carry a spare as Rob suggests.

My plastic valve failed. It started to leak from a small crack in the threads on the water heater side.

I was thinking of replacing it with a brass valve but then there is a question of a brass valve into a steel fitting and the whole worry about non-similar metals and galvanic corrosion.

    Thoughts?

I'm putting in a brass check valve on mine, I've replaced one plastic one, and don't intend to do that again. I'll take my chances with corrosion.

Is Teflon tape or pipe dope enough to prevent galvanic action?
