If you are wondering, maybe you should just get a one ton and be done with it. The cost of trucks these days is going out of site. Why not buy your last truck first. KEN

For me, a 303 is 1 ton territory. With a GVWR of 12k that puts the recommended pin weight at 2760. Since you haven’t got the truck yet, go for the 1 ton.

Could you do it with a 3/4 ton, yes, but I feel you will be very close to or maybe a bit over your limits. Going 1 ton May save you a bit of frustration down the line.

I would check out one of the Ram forums for payload stickers. The 3/4 ton Cummins doesn't have a good payload, it can pull a lot but the diesel weights a lot more and that is all payload. That's why I went 1 ton gas.
