    Water Pump OUTLET under pressure?

Can anyone tell me if the output line from the water pump should have water pressure when connected to city water? Trying to find the source of a water leak around the water pump and was surprised (ie, got sprayed) when the pump output line was under full water pressure from the city water connection. Is this normal?

This is a 2020 310GK so it has the Nautilus 4 system.

    Thanks
    Paul

Yes it should. The city water connection pressurizes the system which includes the output side of the pump.

With the water pump being pressurized while on city water and pump is leaking however cannot find the leak. Has anyone else have this problem? I have seen other post online about a design flaw in manufacturing of these pumps grand design has been using knowing they have design flaws. Any input on this.

I’ve seen some of the same reports and assume the pump was the source of the leak. I’ve replaced the pump and the leak has stopped. I plan to put an inline valve to eliminate the back pressure when I’m on city water.

I had a leak at the pump on my 310, it was hairline crack in the pump filter cap. Dealer gave me a new one, and that solved the problem for me.

I installed ball valves on both sides of my pump after the second one failed. Both pumps had leaks, one internal shorting it out. The other was an external leak. Now I always relieve pressure on the pump and close the valves when its not being used. Also makes replacement easy in the future.
