Electric Brake Wires Broken
Before leaving home for our winter trip, we had the brakes/hubs inspected and maintained. The mechanic found 3 of the 4 electric brake wires broken, which he repaired.
After 2700 miles, we have 2 of the 4 broken again at the spot where the zip ties hold them to the frame. This just seems like a bad idea to have this thin wire hanging under the frame, just waiting for debris, salt, rocks, etc. to beat away at the electric brake wire. Is anyone modifying to protect these wires? Recommendations?[I]Leesway

I’ve towed a lot of different trailers with electric brakes for a long time and have never had a problem with broken brake wires. I have to wonder what is causing yours to break. Mice would be a guess.

Electric Brake Wires Broken
First thing that comes to mind is the length of the wires. If they are too short and binding as the wheels move up and down at the tie wrap spot and be an area that does not have enough slack. Add some length to the wires and put in a service loop that gives room for articulation with no wire binding. I normally do a small circle or loop with a tie at each end of the loop. As the wheels go up and down that loop provides the slack but still keeps the wires cleanly attached.
Good Luck

I doubt mice could be so exact in their nibbling! But maybe???
Definitely will have another look at the wire length. Good thought, Bill.
Thanks very much!
