    Underbelly Temperatures

Getting ready yesterday to head out. Got down to 16 last night. Bought another Accurite temperature read-out with two sensors to monitor temperature around the basement plumbing. Put one probe at the Nautilus panel and the other probe on my shower drain in the rear basement. Had the furnace on and set for 50F. Temp at the Nautilus being so close to the furnace was a balmy 61F so nothing to worry about there. Temp at the shower drain pipe was 41F. Thought I'd share some real data. Think I will move the Nautilus probe to the other side of the front basement.

Is the 50F furnace setting a typo?

Great idea though. I just might give that a shot also.

Great information. I have often wondered how well the underbelly heat worked!

    Thanks,

No, I was still home so set the furnace to 50F just to take the chill off inside as we loaded.

Last night here in SC it got down to probably 37F. I did not run the furnace, just the heat pump. Without the furnace running, both probes were reading the same at 48F. So the Nautilus really does get a lot of heat with the furnace running.

Moved the probe at the Nautilus to the other side of the front basement. Hung it on the battery disconnect switch. With propane furnace on and set at 68, with outside temps at 30, both basement probes front and back were reading 57F.

I have also run a remote temperature sensor above my Nautilus panel on my Reflection. With furnace settings between 45F and 67F and outside temperatures below 25F both in my driveway for testing and on the road the remote sensor was always above the furnace thermostat reading.
