TV tire load range - are they all E rated?
Are all TV tires (mine is in signature but the size is 275/70-18) Load range E tires? Everything on Tirerack is the same E range whether I search by vehicle or size. I do not like the factory Transforce tires - worthless in snow and going back to the 60's as a mechanic, never had trust in the brand. We'll be staying on some grass overnights as well. On my 2500, I put on Goodyear Kevlar belted tires which were better pulling horse trailers off of wet grass and mud (and actually quiet), but they were still the same load range. The were also a little larger in diameter which put my speedo off just a bit.
Thanks,

For the most part E is it I believe, unless you up the wheels to 19.5 like the f450 has.
Be aware E really only tells to the ply equivalent rating (e is 10 ply). Load rating or weight capacity is the important number. My stock tires were rated at 3525 ea. my current tires are rated at 4080ea. (Both e’s).
They will get bigger though. They need to hold more air to get higher load ratings.
Edit: if you could find higher letter rating you’ll need new rims also. G’s are 110psi tires. H’s are 125. I doubt any stock rims will be rated for above 80.Last edited by JKellerJr; 01-31-2022 at 08:34 PM.

My used Suburban came with Transforce tires, some of the worst tires I’ve ever used. I think I replaced them at 6/32. Bought Michelin XLT from Costco and they’ve been superb.

I’m running nitto terra grapplers G2. You have to go bigger to get a higher load rating. Mine are 285/75-18. 295/70-18 is another 18” size that will carry a 4080 rating. If you have 20’s the size options will be different. Once you know the size you want, go to discount tire or tire rack and search by size and you’ll get most of the options available. Look for load rating 129, that equals 4080lbs

I have 20 inch Transforce AT tires on my Ram and they are fine as far as I'm concerned. At 11K miles they appear to be holding up pretty well.
I wouldn't call them all terrain by any means, but I'm not in snow or off road so they are fine.
I'll run them till they puke before I change them out.Jay Leonard

This reminds me of the problem I am trying to deal with on our Ram OEM size Duals, Michelin LT 235/80/R17 at 120/117 load 3085/2835 respectively at 80psi max.
Our weights on the rear duals are Left Rear = 3850, Right rear = 3900 with the 5th wheel hitched of course.
The only other tires so far I found in 17 inch Michelin 245/75/R17 with a higher load are 121/118, 3195/2910 respectively.Steve & Tami Cass - Escapee's, FMCA Members, Texas Fulltimers Since July 2020
