I liked the idea of the 2.5 inch shank because my truck has that size of receiver hitch, so bumped up to the 1,600/16,000.
I was told years ago, that going too big on the bars, for the weight you are at, will cause a more uncomfortable ride. The heavier bars will not flex as much with the lighter weight, and will transmit more of the bouncing to the truck.

was told this by equalizer support - "The 14k and 16k equalizer hitches have the same 1 1/2'' diameter bars.".
However, they did suggest I stay with the 14K.

Out of curiosity, what is the difference between the two then. The head, or something else? The higher weight would mean to me that the bars have to be stiffer, stronger. Just wondering if they mentioned anything.

From tech support - The 14k and 16k equalizer hitches have the same 1 1/2'' diameter bars, the rest of the hitch is different between the two models but the bars are the same.
They did say the 2.5 inch shank is available for the 14K hitch.

I got the 2 1/2 shank when I bought my 14K unit, just had the dealer order a shankless setup and shank separately.

We're sold on the Hensley Arrow. Sometimes it's a case of "pick your poison" but the Arrow has worked great for us no matter what tow vehicle. I've used this Arrow (our 2nd because I let the 1st one go with the trailer, since we upgraded to a 5th, never thinking we'd be buying a pull 15 years later) on a 2019 Ranger Lariat 4x4 (wind on I-90 blew the driver's mirror back into the window but I had zero sway towing), a 2020 F150 XLT 4x4, and now the 2021 F350. I like the additional space the hitch adds, the way it handles, and that there are no bars to take on and off.
