Might be adding another equalizer to my collection

I still have a 1,000/10,000 hitch from towing a small zr1 camper with our expedition. Added a 1,200/12,000 equalizer when I bought a pickup used it for towing our 2800BH.
Well wife thinks we want an imagine 3250BH. Looking at the equalizer site, it looks like I might be needing to upgrade again - either 1,400/14,000 or 1,600/16,000.
    Tow vehicle is a 2021 f250 fx4 with 7.3.
Any thoughts on sticking with the 1,200/12,000 hitch?

I’m thinking that the 12k and 14k share the same size bars, so you might be able to buy just the bars. The 16k jumps to the 2 1/2 shank so 1 less adapter if you have the 3”.
I have the 14k equalizer for my 2970rl and it is a good match.

Unfortunately they are not interchangeable. The heads are different for each weight.

Would not mind jumping to the larger shank.
I think the dealership will factor in some credit for my existing hitch - they indicated such.
There is only about a $50 difference between the 1,400/14,000 and the 1,600/16,000.

Found this out from the Equalizer tech support guys - "Yes, the 12k and 14k both share the same bars."

That’s interesting and completely different from what I was told by the same folks. That was back in late 2019 early 2020 though, so maybe changes.

    Thanks for the update!

Still not sure which hitch I am going with - probably the 1,600/16,000 just for the larger shank. But if the dealership doesn't give me much credit, may go with the 14,000 and use my existing bars just to cut costs.

I would invest in a Sherline scale and weigh the trailer first. Then that will get you in the correct range vs random numbers.

What makes you think that you'll need the 1,600lb bars? That trailer will be at the absolute most 1,200lbs on the tongue.

That was my thoughts initially, so consulted Equa-li-zer, providing them the factory numbers (which I understand are usually on the conservative side) and they came back with the 1,400/14,000 hitch as their recommendation. I liked the idea of the 2.5 inch shank because my truck has that size of receiver hitch, so bumped up to the 1,600/16,000.
