    Husky Centerline TS Hitch

Just bought a brand new 1400 pound hitch. Towed 200 miles with it. When I removed the spring bars, I noticed some cracking on the surface. Has anybody else experienced this? I towed with it again today and the cracks grew slightly. I’m praying this is merely cosmetic and not a sign that the steel is failing.

Husky, who used to be good at answering their phones, hasn’t returned a call in over a week.

If the paint is flaking, that would indicate, to me anyway, that the steel is flexing enough to fracture the paint. I would feel uncomfortable using it until it was sorted. That straight line fracturing just looks funky.

It just looks to me that the paint is wearing where it is inserted into the hitch, secured with the hitch pins. I have the same hitch with 1200 lb bars, and have had no problems towing about 12,000 miles so far.

I appreciate that the paint might wear over time, but the fact that I only towed 200 miles with it is what’s most concerning. I’ve got a call into Husky tech support. Hopefully they’ll call call me in the morning before hitching up again.

There is a lot of stress on the front of those bars. I'm surprised that mine still look as good as they do. Please post with Husky's response.

I've used my Husky Centerline TS hitch for three years now and it looks like yours. It's just deformed paint.

Also looks to me like it is the paint/powder coating cosmetic damage where it is pressed on the end of where the bars are inserted. Mine looked like that, and was still going strong when I sold it after 25K miles.

Same here, I use the same hitch with the 1200# bars for the last two years with no issues.

True to current form, Husky did not call me today. Based on comments, I’m content to believe it’s just some scored paint, but I do plan to call Husky tomorrow for their opinion.

Thank you for feedback so far.
