I use the turning point and keep my generator in the right rear corner of the bed and a cooler in the left rear corner. If I did not have the turning point I could not use this space.

Well that's interesting Tim...had not thought about that for a reason.
I use those areas also, but for different items. Maybe they are not as tall as your items?
Did you ever look for cap interference with it locked?

I did not actually try it but I did some measuring. With the Ford 6 3/4 ft bed and the Reflections 150 nose contour I think I could turn pretty tight but not 90 degrees. My generator is about as tall as the bed so it would have to go in front of the hitch and it is too heavy to be lifting over it.

    I tow a 260RD with a 5 1/2' bed

I tow a Reflection 260RD with a 2021 Ford F150 Powerboost with a 5 1/2' bed using a B&W Patriot 16K. I do use the Turning Point feature and can turn 90 degrees without any problem.

I have a 2019 F250 shot bed crew cab with Ford Puck System and 3300RVK Companion Hitch , 278BH is our 5er so similar to the 268BH , turning point has been locked out since day one , never had any issues and we have to jack it pretty good backing in driveway . Never comes close to hitting cab .

We tow our 295RL with our short bed crew cab 2013 F150 using the turning point and Reese 16k hitch and dont have any issues with clearance either. Would think a 6 1/2' bed would be able to tow it with the pin box locked.

Yes I hit the cab, I was doing close to a 90 degree turn on a uneven surface. Fortunately no damage to the truck, tiny chip in the Solitude. I changed to. B & W slider hitch. Works good. No more issues.

My 250 is also a short bed and I'm using a Curt A16 with slider. A buddy observed while I did a sharp turn and we determined that the trailer would hit the cab at about 75 degrees.
The turning point may be OK, I'm just not sold on it and I don't want to hassle with the annual maintenance on it. Plus, I want the turning point over the axle. Just my preference. YMMV
