    Advice on next mod

I'm getting ready to install an inverter charger in our 369RL. The advice I need is what size and type Solar
Panels to use to keep the batteries charge. Any help appreciated and diagrams and picture would be very helpful. Thanks Very much.

How much do you want to get out of the inverter? How fast do you want it to charge? How long do you plan on running off of solar vs. generator?

Start your plan with the size of your battery bank in amp-hours. You should plan to live within 30% of this total. The optimum range is 80% charge to 50% charge. Charging above 80% is great if you can achieve it but takes a long time. Discharging below 50% risks damaging the batteries. So, now you need solar panels that can produce this number of amp-hours in the average amount of sunlight per day. The last part is figuring out how to keep your 120 V use to within that 30% of theoretical battery capacity.

Addendum note . . . The amp-hour calculation needs to be at 12V so since you are using 6V batteries, total amp-hours at 6V divided by 2 = total amp-hours at 12V.

Installed four 145 watt panels...Freedom2500 watt inverter...4 6volt agm golf cart Batts...and topped off the system with a Onan 2800 compact gen to push the charger side of the inverter. We are on the southern Oregon Coast and love this set up.
