Jemez Mountains-Jemez Falls New Mexico
Have spent many weekends here and really like it. No hook ups, dry camping only. Well paved roads, large back in spaces. Lots of pine and conifers. Nice hikes down to water falls. NM highway 4 from San Ysidro North about an hour to the campground. Camp host Viola with husband Ben are really great. About 10.00 per night. A U.S.D.A. Facility patrolled this past weekend by Sandoval County Sherrif Deputies and Park Rangers. About 8200' or so. General store back down the road about 10 minutes or so. I don't think very large rigs could make it up the Los Alamos side but should come in from Albuquerque or Farmington. Along the way from San Ysidro you will pass through the Jemez Pueblo surrounded by a beautiful assortment of shear mountain cliff views of red and white rocks, the soda dam, the turn off to Fenton lake, the majestic Valle Grande.

Hi Chris, I'm a little sneaky, I will sometimes go up Thursday late afternoon always have gotten a nice spot. I drive back in the morning for work then head up at the end of the day with my wife and dogs. Some weekends they have weddings in the day use area and it fills up. Last year I pulled in several Friday's at 5 pm and got my spot. All three loops are navigate able. I have my favorite spots but usually stay in the first loop 5,6, or 7. There is a lot of great spots though I would not drive through in the dark the first time because of a lot of avoidable tree limbs. Once you see it in the light it all makes sense.
