    jjb,

I have the hanger V braces you show in your picture. I noticed something interesting on mine though. On the back side of each hanger, the V brace is only welded to the inside arm of the hanger. On the front side of each hanger, the V brace is only welded to the outside arm of the hanger. Is yours the same way? I wondered why they didn't just run a weld on both sides of the brace on both the front and back of each hanger. Is there some issue with needing some flex in the system? Or was it just to save some time and a bit of money?

You know, I haven't checked. I'll go take a look in the next few days (my 349M is in storage and it's snowing outside today).

Given how little actual engineering goes into these leaf spring hanger brackets, I can't imagine they purposefully intended for there to be flex. Especially since with mild steel, that inevitably leads to failure as we've seen posted here over & over.

I'm thinking your "time & money savings" idea is it - quick & dirty fix.

I'm budgeting for a replacement of my suspension with something like these guys describe. It's especially nice since they're just down the road from me. (skip to 6:42 into the video)

As has been stated check out Morryde X-factor Crossmember. It's a really easy install. They are relatively inexpensive and they come with new wet bolts.

That happened on our 2014 303 3 or 4 years ago. Lippert had a repair truck nearby so they sent him over to take care of it. He checked the rest of them and thought they looked good, but we did have the one on the other side fail later on. What he did do that has worked well and you see a lot on other trailers now is welding in some V clips inside all of the hangers. Haven't had a problem in a few years now.
