I think I am good finally. Thanks for straightening me out. I may never know why I was determined I had a 2" hitch ball, but it's not. Final result:

RAM 2500 Diesel, with 2 1/2" towing hitch port (is that the right word?)
14,000 lb Equalizer sway control with 2.5" to 2" shank converter
    30,000 lb 2 5/16" Curt hitch ball
    2 5/16" trailer receiver hitch

    Best regards,

Leslie, the 30,000 lb Curt ball listed on E-trailer has a 2 5/8 long shank and Equalizer lists 2 3/8 as the max length for the shank. This will cause interference with the threaded end of the ball and the weight bars in a tight turn.
An easy fix would be to add washers between the hitch head and ball to raise the ball by 1/4 inch to eliminate this problem.
My first equalizer hitch had a ball with the same shank length as what you have and I found damage after my first trip and added washers to raise the ball.
When we upgraded campers and I went from a 10K equalizer to a 14K equalizer, I got the correct ball.
