    My 355 TH has a 9/16 stud size. I just bought a new set of lug nuts because the factory ones have the sheet metal cover on them and require a thin wall socket to remove. The sheet metal cover is cheap and nothing but a problem waiting to happen. After a few uses it will jam on socket and at some point split or allow stripping out. Not something I want to deal with on side of the road. If you have aluminum rims like I do you can buy 3/4 lug to fit and rims will not be damaged by impact gun.
    $ 29.00 for 32 lugs on amazon.

    The stainless steel cover on the lug nuts is not that unusual on cars, trucks or trailers. Maybe not as robust as solid lug nuts, but the trick to keeping the OE lug nuts in good shape is to always use a 6 point socket . . . never a 12 point. The 12 point socket only drives the cover and will twist it off the nut underneath.

    Rob may be correct he knows his stuff. For me $ 30 bucks is better than a tow and possible replaced rim and stud. The guy at Michelin commercial tire new exactly why I wanted to replace them but did not have them in stock.

    Hi Scott,

    No disagreement here that one piece lug nuts are stronger than the stainless steel clad lug nuts.

    But . . . the OEM ones are workable if you don't use a 12 point socket and an impact wrench.
    I have seen a real mess made with a "thin wall socket" ( = 12 point) and an impact wrench.
    Use a 6 point socket and a manual wrench on the OEM lug nuts . . . and no damage will be done.
