    Replace tank sensor

Our kitchen gray tank level sensor has been stuck on full for awhile, no amount of chemical attack has worked.
Service advisor told me they've had good luck in replacing the sensor, so I bought one, and using Youtube install ideas, will give it a go.

    Anybody tried it?

I figured out that is wasn't necessarily a chemical attack that got mine working - it was to fill the tank to the top and a chemical treatment (this is the chemical I choose).

Finally my tanks don't register full all the time. Again - completely fill the tank(s). And leave the chemical in for a week if you can.

Yes, I tried the chemical attack recommended by traveldawg and it worked great!
Can't guarantee they're 100% accurate but look pretty good.
Now I just have to make sure I keep up the regime so they dont get clogged again.

I've decided while I'm in the belly of the beast working on other things, I am going to replace the holding tank sensors with better ones. (I have tried many methods to clean them with no luck.) Hasn't REALLY been a problem but as we finally get to take longer trips and have guests at times it would be nice to have working sensors. The OEM ones look like they are either spin-welded or glued so I will just drill new holes for the new sensors.

    Hi Jim,

Can you tell me how the tank sensors work. i.e. if a wire comes off the sensor, what will be the indication on the panel? I'm thinking no light in that sensor position, but just thought I'd ask someone.

    Thanks,

    Bill

    Hi Bill,

Apparently the logic board on the sensor lights makes all lights bellow the highest sensor with continuity (fluid between sensors) to the "common" light up. So, with an empty tank, if you jumper from the Full sensor to the "common" all the lights will light regardless of continuity to the others. I kinda wish they would only light if they each have continuity, that way you would know if you have a rogue sensor.

(that was copied from my post in another thread)

So, if a wire comes off, the panel will light for every one that is "wet" until it gets up to the disconnected one and that one will do nothing until fluid gets up to the next one above it and then all from there down will light, even the disconnected one.

    Hope that makes sense.
