Lug Nuts
I'm trying to check the torque on our lug nuts. We have a 2021 Solitude 385GK with the MORryde 8k independent suspension with hydraulic disc brakes. the wheels are 16 inch with 8 lugs each. I've heard that there may be sheath or cover over each lug nut. The largest socket I currently have is 3/4" and it doesn't come close to fitting the cover/nut. I'm looking for advice on how to remove the covers if there are covers and what size socket(s) I will need. Also, I can't find anything in my manual or in the MORryde info regarding proper torque settings.

Edit: I did find the lug nut torque chart in my manual, now I just have to figure out 1) how to remove the covers, and 2) whether I have 1/2" or 9/16" studs!Last edited by rad21385; 03-23-2022 at 04:34 PM.

Instead of removing the beauty covers might consider replacing them with quality solid 1 piece lugnuts.

That would be great! Any ideas on how to remove them?

IIRCC, you need a 7/8 thin wall 6 point socket for those. Using a standard socket will scratch the rims. Once you have the nuts off, you can use your choice instrument of destruction to remove the covers,,,,but I do not recommend doing that. First, once you have the right socket, it is no longer a problem. Second when I did this on a truck years ago, I found the the nut that was under the cover was ugly and a non standard size. No SAE or metric socket would fit. So I then had to pony up for new solid lugnuts. Which are better of course, but it was an expense I wasn't planning on.

You should have 9/16" lugs with the 8K axles and disc brakes.

I just got the IS/Disk Brake upgrade - 8k "axles", so 9/16" studs. It appears that I need a 15/16" nut socket, but I can only get it on about 1/2" onto the lug nut - need a "thin wall" socket, right? Can't find such a thing anywhere - been to Lowe's, AutoZone, Advanced Auto Parts, even Harbor Freight - most employees look at me like I fell out of a turnip truck. Pictures of Thin Wall sockets on Amazon don't look any different than standard sockets and have a soft cover so as not to mar the wheels - but makes it look even thicker.
Anybody know where to get a 15/16" thin wall deep socket?2021 Solitude 3540 GK, Reese Goosebox 20K, TST 507 TPMS, RV Airflow
