Why use Proflex/Geocel if it only lasts 5 years? Suggestions

The clear caulk on our 2017 2600RB is starting to peel or is so embedded with dirt/grime it won't come clean. Yes, some caulking is normal maintenance.

I endeavor to use better replacements as original parts fail on our 2600RB.

The 2600RB is stored under a roof. However, the factory caulk is ever so thin, I can remove it with a credit card! Doesn't seem to adhere very well either?

I understand that GD uses Proflex Geocel. Looking to use a better (longer lasting) caulk.

Suggestions? Success stories with other RV caulk?

OR "Suck it up buttercup and just completely re-caulk every few years?"

Longer lasting caulks bring their own problems. Nothing else sticks to them and nearly impossible to remove when you need to.

Every now and then while I'm waiting for DW to get ready at the cg before going somewhere, I walk around the rig and inspect the caulking. I'll touch up when we return what I notice needs touching up. I do agree though, the factory applies only a real thin coat.

I too look over the caulking pretty regularly. After one year and 12000 miles I had to touch up / recaulk all 4 bottom corner areas. Suspect these corners see the most flex while towing.

I recently did a “wash and wax” treatment and was surprised at how well it cleaned up the caulk which had become brownish red from the desert sand.

    Used this stuff:
