    Cant See Hitch Head

My hitch head sits below where I can see it from the drivers seat, which will make hitching the trailer up a little bit harder. Anyone have a solution for something like this?

Based on a previous post from you, it sounds like you are using a gooseball.

So, an old hick trick is to have it hitched, and, looking over your shoulder, not using the mirror, pick two points in the bed the line up with the tongue of the trailer. Some of us put a couple of dots of white (or any other color) paint at specific points on the bed or side of the bed and the hitch, so when you are lined up correctly, these dots "connect".

Thanks for the reply but no gooseneck. Using a fifth wheel hitch from b&w that goes into the gooseneck hole in the bed.

Ah, okay, are you trying to use your rear view mirror or are you physically looking out the back window?

You should be able to see enough of the jaws of the hitch and the king pin to line them up as you are backing up, if you are physically looking through the back window.

If you have one of those folding bed covers, I would recommend buying a cordless and wireless backup/hitching camera.

Early on I used a bed camera to view my 5th wheel hitch and pin box connection. It helped when lining up the two greatly.... but then again, i also have a turning point pin box which adds "just" a slight more skill to make the connect. Now i rarely use it cause I figured out my cab rearview for alignment.

    You'll get there...

I bought a piece of 3/8" wooden dowel rod and painted it bright red and then attached a small but powerful magnet to one end of it. I put it exactly in the center of the hitch (left to right) and as far forward on the hitch as it will go and still be stuck to the hitch head. I then back up lining up the red stick and the center of the trailer hitch pin. Works pretty good.

I have had the same problem - my truck box hides the hitch head. I've tried a small mirror affixed to a magnet placed on the angled top of the pin box. I can see this mirror in the rear view mirror. A cheap solution that (egads!) doesn't rely on batteries!

I use a pool noodle about a foot long & put it in the jaws, line-up the noodle & pin while backing. I have to get out to pull the noodle, & adjust the pin height

I have a Haloview camera set-up and while visiting their website the other day, I noticed they offer a camera with a magnetic mount and rechargeable battery. Might be an option if you have this brand camera already.
