So yes you should go off if GVWR for an estimate at tongue weight. Like I said though, GVWR is the MOST your trailer can weigh to safely go down the road. If you are smart, load your trailer right, and have your calculations right you will be fine. We are and we have the same camper and pretty much the same towing specs, I think you made a good decision. Good luck!

So I do have the 321bh, pull it with. My Ram 2500 6.4 hemi gas not diesel, Would never attempt to take down a freeway with anything smaller, towing is not as much the issue as stopping is or the sway your going to have with a vehicle not suitable for that weight. Good luck!

Towing capacity….who cares. All vehicles can tow far more than the more important PAYLOAD CAPACITY. How does towing capacity stop you rig or control the tail from wagging the dog….especially with 5 precious kids as passengers. Why risk even for being close to payload capacity.
SUVs usually are great people movers and lousy tow vehicles.. unless it a lawnmower or pop up or very light trailer. Their brakes, axel ratios, rear suspensions aren’t built for towing 8000 lbs.Donna and Dave
