Again, I refer to MSRP pricing difference between models years...if there was in fact a higher price going from 2019 to 2020. Then you would also need to be "concerned" with resale value also, one year different pricing in let's say the NADA pricing guide for selling or trade in price. It's definitely not a life changing situation, but I can tell you that if someone sold me a xx model year vehicle and it turned out to be a year older than the paperwork stated, I would be seeking some kind of compensation from them. It's more a matter of principle than it is a "money event", but certainly there is some monetary value loss there too.

You are right, but what about when you sell it? Say you sold it as a 2020 and then someone finds out it was a 2019? Is there anyone here that would not think they got ripped off? It's not the month or day we are talking about. Most people would think that it's a year older. The resale value alone would be a huge hit. Several thousand dollars.
If vehicles were sold by the day, that would be different, but they don't sell them that way.
But hey it's just another man's opinion.

This exactly, when it was actually built is really immaterial. But there will be a difference is resale value being "a year older". My '21 was built the last week of may 2021. The ones built the very next week were 2022's. I was kind of hoping it would have gotten delayed, just slightly, and ended up with a '22 for resale value purposes down the road.
Not sure on what recourse is available but I would be checking into it. And you want to know for sure what you have so you sell it properly also. You don't want it coming back on you.2021 Solitude 375 RES-R

We bought a used 2019, licensed as a 2019, but it was built in August of 2018. Does that make it a 2018 or a 2019? It simply doesn't matter to me.

And to make things even more convoluted - RV model years are much more free form than auto manufacturers. GD makes progressive changes all year long, and rather randomly decides at what point to call it a new model year. So easy to be made in say July of one year, but called the next years model....
Call GD and find out what model year they claim it is, irrespective of production date. That would be as definitive as you can get.2017 Imagine 2670MK

You bought a 2019. You paid the going price for that. You go to register the trailer and found out it's a 2018. Are you saying that you are ok that you spent $5k or more too much? If you are, I'm happy for you. I doubt if 99.9% of the general public would be ok with that.

Again, working in the automotive industry it's just as messed up as the RV. I mentioned that I've seen cars built in Feb 02 and sold as an 03. As Xrated stated, it's the VIN that determines the model year. The production date has absolutely nothing to do with the model year.
I do know that there are emissions concerns with automobiles. Not so much for trailer. If you sell an 03 car, it must meet 03 emissions. You cannot have a 03 model made in 04, that much I know to be a fact.

My Grand Design 2800BH was built 9/2016 and it’s a model year 2017, 573TE3225H3403716
My Grand Design 337RLS was built 1/2017 and it’s a model year 2017, 573FR3626H3312076
VIN number designates model year, not date manufactured. Both of my 2017 Grand Designs are “H” model years but built in different calendar years. THE LETTER 8 digits from end of VIN.
Same are with cars and trucks. It a standardized way the feds strange vin numbers.
Look at your truck VIN and you will see the same thing.
F = 2015
G = 2016
H = 2017
J = 2018 (they skip “I “ to avoid confusing it to number “1”
K =2019
L = 2020
M = 2021Last edited by Jerryr; 04-21-2022 at 09:27 PM.
