Wrong Axle - Need Advice ASAP

I met a new 317RST owner in camp last week and we were comparing rigs. Our ratings are almost identical, but we are very concerned that a mistake was made on his rig. On my 337 my GAWR is 6000 pounds. The labels on my axles say 6000 pounds too. On his 317, he also has a GAWR of 6000 pounds, but his axles are labeled as 5200 pounds. This doesn't sound right does it?

If he does indeed have 5200lb axles, he is going to be overweight for them.

With a GVWR of 13,995lbs, that would have to have a pin weight of 3595lbs to be anywhere close to legal weight, and we know that isn't the case.

I would get on the phone to the dealer or GD asap.

I read either here or on the another site, that someone else had wrong axles on their G.D. as well. The factory made it right. I'd start with the dealer and if not quickly resolved call G.D. directly.

Does anybody know what the physical difference is between a 5200 lb and a 6000 lb axle ?
These two always seem to be grouped together in the parts lists.

He called GD customer service who asked him to send a photo of the axle tag. GD confirmed that the wrong axles were installed. They asked him to schedule an appointment with his dealer for replacement when he gets home from his current trip.

We found this when we crawled under his coach while I was showing him how to adjust his brakes.

You may want to check your coach to make sure you don't have the same issue. First check your GAWR on the sticker that is attached on the driver's side of your coach. For example, mine says 6,000 pounds. Then crawl under your rig and examine the label on the center of each axle. It should match the GAWR.

No problem, I'm on my phone right now, so I can't attach a link. But do a YouTube search for "Lippert brake adjustment". Lippert put together a pretty good video on how to do it.

Maybe I'll get lucky and get his 6000lb axles on my 303! Of course I wouldn't complain.

Just checked my axle rating tag on my 2014 337. I have the wrong axles installed, they are rated at 5200lbs. Called GD, they will send new 6000lb axles to the dealer and change them out under warranty.
