    Tow Vehicle Tire Separation Issues

Anyone else have tow vehicle tires separating? Towing a 2018 Momentum 328M with 2020 2500HD Chevy. Tires are GY Wrangler Trail Runners, 31K, 2.5yrs old. 2 rears just separated, with 1 blowing. Keep proper inflation and rotating. Put truck and trailer on scale to get true weights loaded. My math indicates I am OK with the 3750# load rated tires, but 2 have blown. Anyone else having similar issues? Remedies?

Reminds of the Marathon tire issues in the early 2000's. Had to read alot of testimonials before going back to GOODYEAR for my Endurance tires purchase last year for my 5er.

Hope your experience isn't a sign of times to come.

Were you running the tires at 80 PSI cold? I assume they are 20" load range E tires to have a 3750# load rating. Reason I ask is most 3/4 ton trucks run the tires at a reduced pressure (65 PSI) for a better ride.

My 2021 Silverado 2500 has that same tire. Been towing about 18,000 of the total 27,000 at the door post psi of 60 front and 70 rear.

The tread wear is a bit more than I expected but no separation or blowout issues.

Not exactly a good comparison or reference point.

    Lets see
Reflection 312 BHTS is a tag trailer (10~12%? tongue weight) with GVWR of 11,295#. So 1,100~1,350# tongue weight.
    vs
Momentum 328M is a 5th wheel (20~25%? tongue weight) with a GVWR of 16,500#. So 3,300~4,125# tongue weight

And yes, a 328M is more trailer than I would want to pull with a 3/4 ton, but that is a separate issue from the OP question.

Yes 80 PSI cold. See them hit 89 while driving. 20" 3750# and keep up on rotation.

I just had the same thing happen. Same truck with 27k miles pulling a solitude within weight limits. Damage to truck $5500. There is a possibility that it had a previous flat repair. I had a flat on a front tire repaired about a year ago and it may have gotten rotated to the back. I agree about the wear being excessive. Will be changing brands.
