Hopefully it will last much longer than Swintek slide. This is my initial impression:

I glanced at the Vroom website and it appears that original Swintek controller and motors are used. It did not say if original H columns are used or how motor is attached to camper. If there are Swintek failures related to these the problem is still there.

The Vroom was cycle tested a lot of cycles, which is good to hear. Was anything varied from ideal conditions in the test, like slide box dimensions, amount and how slide was loaded, low/high drive voltage, slide sync, stopped part way and owner using slide, slide hits an object going in or out,...? Most companies do not go to the trouble until there are failures or neve.

The motor to rack interface sounds robust. Big improvement over Swintek.

With the Swintek design, I believe that there is some flexibility (allowed movement) between motor and camper mounting mechanism. This would allow the two sides to position to very a small amount with less binding issues--for example if the two faces are not parallel to each other, since the racks are mounted there.

I am guessing that Swintek failures are related to one or more: weak design, user hard/improper use or poor installation. The user failures are also the responsibility of the manufacture.

I wonder how many of these have been installed.

If new design causes other existing parts to break is there any warranty on related parts. How long is the warranty and who can repair product when there is a failure?

Please report on your experience over time and if positive there should be a lot of the Vroom sold.

have seen several problem with swinger getting out of alignment.
New issue for us just popped up.
Retracted the slide, per manual held it for 5 secs so the motors stay synced, then POW!
sounded like it cracked the wall, but no apparent damage.
then I noticed bracket screws on lower left corner were partially pulled out.
Slide still works fine, but need to figure out origin of popping noise.
first time 8 years we've had a problem.
    Thoughts?

My Schwintek slide went to crap on my first long trip, and I'm already saving for a Vroom.

My slide's under warranty, but I don't harbor any illusions that GD (a) is going to have a dealer that can get to it any time this century, and (b) will know how to fix it.

And for the poster who said the problem is that people don't know how to operate it, yeah, pushing that button must need to be done in a certain, special way. #itsthebaddesign

This is true. It does need to be pushed a certain way. Don’t stop until it is fully extended or retracted and always hold the button for 5-10 seconds after all motion has stopped

I had the Vroom installed yesterday. The only thing left that is Lippert is the controller and maybe the rollers. I did not think to ask if those were new. They are also putting stiffeners and slide plates on the GD slide rooms by default now. It is expensive, but the performance over Schwintek is night and day and worth it, IMHO.

For those who've installed a Vroom - can they hook up to the GD control panel Slide button, or do you have to install yet another device on your wall to activate it?

You use the same button on the existing control panel.
