I have a 2020 F-250 Lariat 6.7 RWD custom order with 29K. I'm not looking to sell it but I have had several offers starting at $98k. My dealer, whom I've bought 4 trucks from have told me if I was interested, they would order me a 2023 to my specs, guarantee a trade price at the 2023 delivery, and I keep using the truck until the new truck arrives. The market is nuts, especially when I look at the trade price they want to guarantee and the 2023 would only cost me $2K out of pocket. Gotta think about that, since we love this truck and I really don't want to wait for who knows how long it would take to replace. Though I really would like the new larger infotainment screen and the massage seats with a Platinum.

You probably won't see a 2023 until next spring or summer...

My Chevy HD 2500 Duramax came in two weeks ago and dealer could not deliver it to me because of stop sale. I saw the bulletin explaining situation. Dealer not allowed to sell, transfer, demo etc. Got my deposit back and will hold off on buying for time being.

One local dealer here offered to lock in trade price and sale price on custom orders. Trade in price is probably the best it's going to be so I've considered it myself. If Ram offered one or two more things from my wish list, I think I'd sign on the dotted line.

I ordered a 2022 F350 SRW Platinum on 12/2. The dealer locked in a great trade in price of my 2020 F350 Lariat SRW. I ordered the 2022 with X-Plan which price protected it against price increases and the price was about 5% below sticker or right around invoice. I also received a $2,500 Exclusive Cash Offer, ECO. So when and if my 2022 F350 Platy arrives it will cost me less than $1,000 out of pocket plus my trade.
Then in January I ordered a F450 Platinum for 4% below INVOICE from another dealer. My plan is to maybe trade the 2022 F350 in on it. 450s in inventory are going for $10,000 over sticker or about $18,000 more than my deal.
Then in March a local dealer offered $150 cash if you ordered a vehicle so I ordered a 2022 F450 King Ranch from them using X-Plan about $5k below sticker. The $150 cash deal was $75 at time of order and $75 at delivery. If you change your mind no problem, keep the cash and they will put the truck on their lot and sell it. They sent me a $75 check the week after to ordered the truck.
All 3 trucks were ordered with no deposit and no commitment. I will have some difficult decisions once these trucks arrive. I already have someone interested in buying either the 450 Platinum or King Ranch from me if I don’t want it.
Worst case is I don’t take possession of any of them and keep my nice custom ordered 2020 F-350 SRW PSD.
My wife thinks I’m nuts. Since 1970 I’ve bought 62 new vehicles. These trucks will be # 63, 64 & 65.Last edited by Jerryr; 05-09-2022 at 08:22 AM.

We got into RV'ing in November 2020. We do not own a truck and with truck prices the way they were AND still today, we decided to go the Enterprise Truck rental route. Since both my wife and I still work, and only use our rig during the 6 warm months a year, and then only for a long weekend, once a month (for a total of about 30 actual camping days a year) purpose renting a 3/4 truck (gas or diesel) at about $69/day with 200 free miles is an easy decision for now. I was able to get that rate, since I make camping/truck reservations about a year in advance! Another outcome of COVID !
I do not mind spending about $3k per year for a new truck without having to bother with insurance and maintenance and the daily living with a sub 20 mpg daily driver. The alternative would be a $800 ++ per month payment plus additional expenses that go with owing a truck.
This is a short gap decision, but I hope within another year or two, things will "normalize" to a point it will make sense to bite the bullet and buy. I look forward to that day !!Mitch and Alisa Frank
