Another new Ontario member

Hi folks:

Recently retired, well actually, the covid thing pretty much forced the issue. Wife and I are avid campers and took our first 2 month run south. Nice not having to pack up and return home in three weeks.

Problem was available campsites. After a couple of weeks, the only campsite we could find was at Lazydays in Tampa. Not really camping, more RV parking but took the site in the hope that we could find a spot at a State park. No joy.

To make matters worse, we decided to tour the largest RV dealership in the world. Big mistake!!!! Three hours later, we were the proud owners of a 2020 2450RL Grand Design. Quite a step up from a 14 year old Hybrid.

Dragged the new trailer back to Canada after camping in it for a few weeks and really enjoy the new amenities. Tows well but am serious about getting a Hensley or Pro-Pride.

Looking forward to reading about and possibly sharing our experiences with like minded people.

Thanks for the welcome Bob. Currently using a 2010 Chev Avalanche that I have worked over to make a good tow vehicle. Would prefer to go diesel but at todays pricing, just can't justify the initial cost.

The reason I asked about your TV is your mention of the Hensley or ProPride hitch.
We started towing our 2450rl with a Ram 1500, while it could pull the trailer
the sway with big trucks on expressways was rougher than I cared to deal with.
The ProPride cured those problems.

Also a welcome from Ottawa! Before owning 5th wheels we towed a travel trailer with a Hensley (30' TT + Toyota Sequoia) all over Canada and much of the US. I have nothing but good things to say about the Hensley
