    Manometer Question

It seems that I may have a propane leak. I'm trying to verify it with a manometer. When I hook it up I show 11 inches of water column just as it should. But when I try to bleed it down to 8 inches for the test by opening up a second stove burner it doesn't go down. Does anybody have any idea why that might be? Thanks for the help.

You turn the tank valve off to do the leak test.

If the tank is off and the manometer doesn’t drop when you open a burner, then the port your manometer is connected to has been isolated from the propane distribution system.

Are you connected to a burner port? If so, that burner valve has to be on and the tank off in order to do the leak test. You want the lines pressurized and the manometer connected to the pressurized lines. When you open the second burner, you are venting gas from the system and the manometer will show the pressure drop.

Yes, it's very confusing. I was hooked on to one of the three stove burner ports. (the last one in the line). I pressurized the lines and then turned off both propane tanks. When I turned on the burner that the manometer was connected to it jumped right up to 11 inches of water column. But when I turned on one of the other 2 burners the level only went down very slowly. It took about 20 min to get to 8 inches. I've done this before on a different system and it dropped down to 8 very quickly.
