Going From Fifth Wheel to Travel Trailer?
With the prices of RVs where they are today, I was considering in the future going from Reflection 230RL fifth wheel to a Reflection 297RSTS Travel Trailer, I realize that going from a fifth wheel to a Travel trailer won't be as nice of a tow, but with a 3/4 ton will it feel like I made a big mistake or will it be pretty comfortable ride?

There will be much more tail wagging the dog. Biggest difference is storage.

I tow a 315RLTS Reflection travel trailer with my 2500 HD diesel and have no problems. You will need to have a good weight distribution hitch (like Equal-izer) and should not have any sway. Good luck.

Why would prices make you consider that change - and why change in the first place?

Depends what you compare with what.....
Right now, a 297RSTS trailer costs more than the smaller 150 series 5th wheels.Steve- Inventory Manager at Tom Schaeffer's RV, Shoemakersville, PA www.tomschaeffers.com

Having had both, I would not go back. Permanent or long-term, say on a seasonal site, would be a different story. Then the one-level floorplan would be nice. But for travel, not so much.

Edit/PS: then there's the difference in how easy it is to hitch up a fifth wheel vs. a heavy weight distribution hitch with bars, etc.U.S. Army Retired

My answer is.... it depends. I would not do it now given the type of travel we do (often weeks and even months at a time. We like our space. I might do it when we travel long distances less or travel less often.
You should consider tho, that everyone goes on about storage. i carried just as much "stuff" when I had a TT as when I had a 5ver. It just went in the bed of the truck. But, again, those were mostly the days of shorter length and duration trips.Larry KE4DMG
