Find your SAFETY GAS RECALL with the Vin numbers on the attached list

see the attached list for your trailers vin number and the part "# 76290W" which is defective

A Bit of wisdom: if you are using soap bubble to check for a gas leak and the soap is too watery; you can thicken the mixture by mixing in some common salt.

Salt causes corrosion... Just add more soap.

as a COMMERCIAL soap manufacturer for over 30 years; i can tell you, all thick soaps on the market are using salt as a thickening agent.
most people believe if the soap is thick then it is quality...not so....just has more salt

at the dilution rate you need for a bubble leak test this concentration will not hurt parts and the emulsifiers in the soap will COAT and protect.

I use dawn. It dosn't have common salt in it. A few more drops of it to get the right concentration to blow bubbles isn"t gonna drain the bank account... And I think it is easier to do than adding a KNOWN corrosive agent to it..... That is my wisdom for the day.

I am amazed how you can say DAWN has NO salt, and confuse other readers, when you have
no REAL KNOWLEDGE on the product.

Let see :….. ME ..over 30 years in the commercial soap industry
……………… You:… Guessing at best, and maybe you tried to make soap in your kitchen.

Anyway the fact is Dawn like other soaps does have SALT in it.

I have attached the Proctor and Gamble Material Safety Data sheet on the product Dawn.
You will see “Sodium Salt “ goes into the manufacture of Dawn.

P.S. –Sodium chloride is table salt

you might also note that it also uses SULFURIC ACID...(A CORROSIVE ) .but don't worry that is most likely used to neutralize any Alkalinity making it safe for skin....

Grand Design will be sending out recall letters to those effected shortly.

Seems like this thread is more about the composition of soap rather than an LP Quick Connect recall...

Bruce I did look up the specific make up of the salt ingredient before that post. It is Sodium Laureth Sulfate. I then googled if that was corrosive to metal.. The answer suprised me, as in that form it actually has a lot of anti corrosive properties. So I am satisfied that dawn in its original formulation is NOT corrosive. That also jives with my personal experience using it... I do not see any advantage to adding common salt though. IMO why chance messing up the original formulation by adding common table salt which is a known corrosive. Since it is so simple to just add a little more dish soap.
    What is the point?
