Replaced Westlake tires with Goodyear Endurance Dec 2020 and haven't had any issues to report. Had blowout with Westlake tire on busy Interstate and changed out all tires when we got to campground. I am 75 year old and blowout with Westlake was only blowout that I ever had, sure I had tires go flat but never a blowout except with the one Westlake tire ( pressure was checked that morning before trip). Luckly had tire alarm and pulled off Interstate immediately. Had to replace fender skirt and had slightly bent rim without tire alarm there would have been more damage.

I will pretty much guarantee that most folks who have issues DO NOT MAINTAIN their tires. Check pressures every trip, check wheel lug torque, put UV protection on your tires, or do not have a tire monitoring system, and above all did not look at tire rating vs. their load.

Happy that my 2021 TT came with GYE tires.

Kind of disappointed to discover that the spare is a Westlake.

Also surprised at the level of cracking that was in the tread grooves of the GYE tires after only two years and 19,000 miles. Tires covered when camping and rig stored indoors when not.

    Replaced them with new GYE.

Happy to be out and about and never had a failure. It’s a nice day in Tucson.

Swapped out Westlakes with GY Endurance. Night and day improvement in towing experience. Much less wallowing. Only 10k on the Westlakes. Thread was still good and no cracking. But worth the swap.

I don't think GY is an end all...see avatar, that's me checking for damage after the GY exploded. Checked it 20 minutes before at a stop. Every stop I run my hand around every tire, put a temp gun on them, also have TPMS.

On another note...1005 posts...really! Glad I didn't read all them in one sitting.

Size, running pressure, load, age, reason for failure, etc ??

    Thanks
I was planning to replace my Westlake factory bombs at the end of last season. Didn’t make it that far. I got 6500 miles before two blowups on I-64 in Indiana returning from St Louis last October. $4500 estimated damage.

As has been mentioned, when writing about a failed Westlake, it's great if it could be specified whether it's an "E" rated 16" tire, or a "G" rated 16" tire. The "E" rated Westlakes seem to have a higher failure rate than the "G" rated ones.

Yes, I believe the ones on my trailer are from China also. The new Sailun's are from Vietnam I believe.
