    Dual Bed Lift Assist?

I installed some hefty gas struts on the bed frame to help the wife up the mattress to access the storage below. However even with the 150 pound lift she struggles with it as we replaced the stock mattress with a much heavier one, then added a memory foam topper onto that. I don't think I can go much higher in the force of the gas struts, but I'm wondering if I could add another set of struts for a total of two on each side. Has anyone done this? Any pointers?

    Thanks.

A better approach, IMHO, would be to move the struts - both attachment points - farther toward the foot of the bed. This will reduce the amount of force/weight the struts must overcome. It might reduce the opening angle a little, but it would be much simpler than two sets of struts.

    Thanks Rob,

I moved them forward (toward the foot of the bed) about 2" and it did help. I may have to move it a bit more, but that'll just be some fine tuning.

    Thanks for the input.

If possible, would you please send me a link to the struts you used?

I added an aftermarket mattress, and while it's not real heavy, it needs some beefier struts. Any idea the rating of the OEM struts? I hate to go too strong and have the bed levitate.

If you can get the manufacturer and part number off the OEM strut, you can contact https://www.liftsupportsdepot.com/ and they can recommend an exact-fit replacement with higher force ratings. I have used the online fitment guide for OEM replacements, but called when I needed some advice on stroke-length and force needed for a new, non-replacement strut application.

My guess is that you just need stronger struts. They come in all sorts of "strengths" and lengths.

I actually have a set of the LGP8-150-120 that I don't need. If you want them, I'll send them to you for the shipping cost...but first let me verify that they are the 150s, not the originals which I think were either 100 or 120.
