Yellowstone Closed! Temporary Closure - Flooding.

The park has been temporarily closed at all gates due to flooding and rock slides. No inbound visitor traffic will be allowed into the park until conditions stabilize and the park can assess damage to roads and bridges and other facilities. This includes visitors with lodging and camping reservations.

Thanks Janet, we saw that. We were scheduled to be there 6/22 but staying outside the park, reevaluating our travels.

We are scheduled to visit there in early September. We are also staying outside the park. May have to revisit our plans as well.
It is going to be my first trip there so it will be a major bummer if we have to cancel it.

I have plans to be there in a few weeks staying at Fishing Bridge. It would be great to hear from someone who was there and forced to leave. The zoom news conference on You Tube indicated that the whole park will be closed for about a week. But they also said they may not open the north loop all season. They are looking at controlling the crowd on the south loop with entry permits. I am guessing that with a Fishing Bridge reservation we won't need the entry permit if it works like the other parks. But if you are staying outside the park get ready for another internet connection contest.

We just left the Yellowstone area on Thursday after being there for 2 weeks. We were just outside the south entrance at Headwaters campground when the big rains hit. Luckily we had done Old Faithful the day before. I stumbled across a YouTube channel done by a guy that works in the Park and has good, current information. It's called Parkjunkie. He's been putting out videos pretty much daily.

We spent the day in Yellowstone today. Based on our lic plate, we could go in today and again on Saturday. We saw almost everything we wanted to see today, some parking lots were just too packed. We plan to get an earlier start Saturday and see the upper and mid basins.

Were are here as well, we get to go in tomorrow, even days. We are using the West Yellowstone entrance. We went by the west entrance visitors center today and got an updated map and marked the closed areas, the southern loop is all open. The northern loop will be closed for some time. We have a full day planned.
At the West entrance gate at noon, there was nobody waiting to get in.

In West Yellowstone MT and Island Park ID diesel is 6.19 / gallon.
