    Smile Sewer Waste Valves

Has anyone, other than myself had any valve leak thru on the waste system? I have had my Momentum 380TH for about 4 months and i always dry drain all 3 tanks, at least try too. Everytime I get to the next camp and take the end cap off I have about 2 cups of water that come out. it doesn't seem to come from the black, but i wash down the area well, and connect the hose. when i talked to the service guy where i bought it, even showed him the leakage, he agreed that one of the valves was probably leaking by. here is the kicker. To get to the valves to check them out he has to cut the material under the trailer and he told me it is hard to get it to seal back where they cut it. I know this to be true since I have been down that road before. He told me ALTERRA makes a waste valve that has a female twist lock on one side and a male on the other. He said to install that and the problem is solved without compermizing the integrity of the underneath.
did it, works great. I called the service manager back and thanked him. He would have done the job (warranty) if I wanted, but this worked, and my trailer is not in service for 2 weeks.
So if anyone else has this problem. . . here ya go

Yep, it's a pretty frequent problem.. Your solution works well, and you can also use that valve to equalize the gray tanks if one gets full.

I bought an add on gate valve attachment from CW that does the same thing . Keeps that little extra from dumping on me when I uncap it and plug my sewer hose on

First of all I wouldn't let him cut it when he can remove the screws around the perimeter and drop it for access. I know because I've done it.

Secondly, I would just get a gate valve to fit on the end of the outlet so you can connect the hose before you get wet, like this: http://www.amazon.com/Valterra-T58-T...DKN5F45Q4GB3K4

I have one on our trailer just to eliminate that dribble or a worse case scenario when I forgot to actually close the valve after the tank was fully drained.

I didn't want my drain cap to stick out any more than it already did so I cut and glued a valve in with a slip fitting and new bayonet connection. It is actually a little shorter now.

On our Reflection we have the same issue only it is on the Black tank. Nice. Very embarrasing to arrive at a new campgroung and being the newbe, you are watched like a hawk as you set up (I refer to it as the afternoon Senior Entertainment Hour). It starts with everyone gathering around to watch you attempt to back into a site that is to narrow with trees and fences all around with your neigbors tow vehicles parked in the road across and adjacent to your site and then ends with pulling off the sewer drain cap only to have half a gallon of the home brew come spashing out. Didn't really expect that as we had completly (or so I thought) empytied the tanks when leaving the previous campground that morning.
