    50 Amp Threaded Lockring Replacement?

Went to unhook the 50 amp female power cord end from side of RV today and the treaded lockring broke in half. Anyone know of a replacement ring available to replace it without having to replace the complete plug? Hopefully one that could be pressed onto the existing plug. To get by I glued the original back together but don't know how long that will last. Thanks for any help!

A metal ring sounds like a sure fire way to strip the plastic threads on the trailer.

Although not cheap, I've been considering this as a preemptive solution: https://www.technorv.com/smart-plug-50-amp-kit/

I have replaced the locking ring on the Marinco cables without a lot of trouble, but after looking at the 50 amp GD OEM cable that came with my trailer, it looks like it would be tough. The retaining ring that holds the locking ring on the plug is large and not very soft.

One fix I have used in the past is to wrap a tie-wrap around the ring. I will work for a power cable that for instance is used at home, and not connected/disconnected a lot.

I think the biggest factor in making these connector rings last is to not tighten them excessively, and have some type of support for the heavy 50 amp cables.

That Smart-plug looks pretty sweet. May be pricey but it looks like it would last a long time and give better performance.
