New Grand Design Reflection 303 RLS
My new unit is being placed on a permanent site in our campground. Do I need a tripod or some type of support under the 5th wheel hitch? Also, should I put supports under the slide outs? Switching from a TT to 5th wheel is a whole new world.

NEVER put supports under slides. You'll risk damage to the slides should there be any settling and you'll void the warranty on the trailer/slide systems. The slides are designed to be self-supporting.
A stabilizer tripod under the pin is personal preference. They are not nearly as effective as a system such as the SteadyFast system: http://www.steadyfast.com/

Since it's permanent, and if the campground will let you, raise the rig up just past level (still keeping it level) and lower it on some concrete blocks in the level position. The stability should be much better. You can consider letting air out of your tires too so it take the suspension out of play, but raising it enough on the blocks should be OK.
The tripod can always be added I suppose. But I always felt it was the jacks that were the week point and where movement creeps in.Larry KE4DMG

We use a tripod when parked for long periods in FL. The key is to apply a slight downward pressure on the tripod after it's in place for it to be more effective. We plan for that when leveling so we don't end up nose high or low. We don't use the tripod for short term parking tho, mainly because it's just 1 more thing to tend to whole breaking camp. Tripod used along with strong arms makes a difference with the wiggle
