    Covers for Travel Trailer

I have a new Grand Design Imagine XLS, and am wondering about the best method to protect the RV from the elements. I live in a wind prone area (even severe wind storms of up to 80 mph), and although its an arid environment, I still get the potential for some rain, but definitely snow in the winter. Certainly UV from harsh sun is an issue. Is a standard fabric cover a good idea? Or is that likely to result in damage to the exterior from constant rubbing?
Oh, and no opportunity for a garage or car port type cover, unfortunately.

Dealers and factories don’t worry about it so I don’t either
Had one on my previous Jayco but that was only 15 feet and a pita to deal with
Was never going to consider it for this trailer I have now that is double the size

I'd say forget about it with the wind. It will most likely rub against the side and cause a sanding effect which you probably dont want.

More horror stories of losing covers than success. Plenty of UV protectants that will get you protection.

The two worst enemies of these rigs is uv and moisture. Wind not so much as the others.

We chose to use a cover because the decals on my previous mh got uv damaged. Current rig is under covered storage at my home.

I have been using this one for about a month. It's stood up to the summer sun and monsoon winds so far.

I'm very happy with how it fits. Several of my neighbors have covers on their RVs that are super baggy looking. This one is good and tight with all the straps and the two over-the-top straps. That really prevents billowing in the wind. I do put a moving blanket on the solar panel and the back of the Furrion AC unit to relieve pressure points.

It's not 100% waterproof, but that's OK with me. I mostly want it to keep the desert dust and brutal UV off the trailer. So far, it's been fitting the bill well. I had enough slack to be able to cover the trailer tongue and the ProPride, which was a nice bonus. The ProPride gets covered with a giant yard trash bag, then stuck under the fabric cover (keeps the grease contained and the metal bits fully dry).

Covers can be a challenge to put on and take off, it for those of us that have more time between trips, in horse environments, a cover is a nice to have. As others have pointed out, fitment is important.

Yes, the cover linked is similar to the one we use. It does look like the strapping would secure it well from winds (not an issue here). We've been very happy with our cover, only use it in the winter. Future plans call for a "barn" to house the 5er.
