    Bed frame paint?

I think I saw somewhere that someone had painted or used polyurethane on the particle board the bed frame is made of. Opinions on that? I was wondering if it would help with moisture in general.

I have had the stock osb bed platform since new with no problems.

If you are worried about mold with a newer mattress (memory foam style) you could just drill some 1 inch holes to promote airflow. Don’t think you need to go to that trouble .

We did buy one of those mats that goes under the mattress to increase air flow. Was just wondering if it does any good to seal it.

I think you are good. I think the mat you got should be sufficient.

I shellacked the mattress board in our last trailer since cold weather camping produced moisture at times, and I wanted to lessen chance of wood discoloration.

That was my though. I have untreated wood. Asking for trouble IMO.

A better approach would be to provide ventilation so moisture doesn't collect and mold doesn't grow. May on the forum have had good success with this product:

I think I'd install some foam insulation in the cargo bay under the bed and on the lower wall
If you're getting moisture in it's because of poor insulation under the bed.

That is the product we bought. More concerned about the wood vs the mattress at this point.

If you're using the hypervent substrate, there's nothing to worry about with the wood. We've been full-time for seven years (including at least three winters in northern Maryland) using the hypervent... have not done anything to the wood in either rig and have never had a problem.
