    6 pt hydraulic leveling system.

My question concerns the 6 pt hydraulic leveling system on my ST-310. What do you clean the landing gear legs with, and do you spray anything on them, eg. Silicone spray, etc? I'm talking about the tubes that retract up past the seals.

I just wash them when I clean the camper, and wipe them down with a damp rag before I retract them if they have any dirt on them. Don't want to spray anything on them that would attract dirt like WD-40

I took the Lippert online technical course for these and they say the following right from the PDF they sent me after I passed the course.

If jacks are down for extended periods, it is recommended to spray exposed leveling jack rods with a silicone
lubricant every three months for protection. If the unit is located in a salty air environment, it is
recommended to spray the rods every 4 to 6 weeks.

Mine were squeaking the other day when retracting so I wiped them with a dry cloth and some silicone spray and nice and quiet again.

This ^^^. I also use silicone spray lube per LCI instructions.

I rarely stay more than a week at any one spot. I always wipe each of the jacks down with a silicon spray and clean rag before retracting them. Every few times (depends on the dust conditions), I wipe off the bottom seal before retracting the jacks. Jacks always retract nice and smooth and no damage to the shafts.

Silicone spray is about useless .. the stuff with PTFE is a bit better.. I wipe all six legs down with ATF before I retract them to clean off anything non the exposed pistons and clean and lubricate the outer wiper seal

During storage I apply a light coat of ATF on all six exposed pistons .. the legs are down for six months during storage at the house

Nine years later zero leaks, leveler and LG legs look as nice as day one
