Some of the discussions on here are so fun. Remember growing up and hearing, "When I was younger I had to walk up hill both ways to school"? That has turned into, "Back in the day we had 1200 baud modems and it took us two hours to download a picture of a cat."

And please don't get offended but does anyone remember the ASCII image of the woman? Oh, we had it rough back in the day.

I remember picking up the rotary phone at school, dialing the number, when I heard screaming I placed it in the cup. Then we spent the period playing Star Trek on a printer.

I got kind of a late start on the world of computers....1999, even though I am now 67 years old. The slowest I remember is my dial up connection on my very first computer....a Gateway Pentium II with a 400 Mhz processor and hooking up at 14,xxx kb and watching my fingernails grow while waiting for a page to load....OMG, looking back at that....it was painful.

My nerdiness dates back to my early teen years when I built a crystal radio just to prove I could listen to the local station with using batteries, tubes, or transistors.

I forgot about that ASCII image! And it reminded me that I still have a large had drawn map of "The Colossal Cave" PC adventure game - you know, the ones with 2 word commands and no graphics! yikes!! Me and 2 friends spent hours in front of a green screen solving that game.

Now those were games. Zork, Hitchhikers guide to the Galaxy, etc. Nothing better than playing for hours on end and get to a spot you can't pass because you forgot to pickup something stupid like a ball of lint in the first area.

Netscape!?!?!? The absolute best web browser at the time! It was stand alone and could render everything the AOL browser could, but faster. It was also the core of the first Firefox browser.
