Acetone on exterior panels Imagine
Want to remove some sticker residue and reseal some windows. I know not to get acetone on the factory decals. Is it safe for the factory white panel exterior.
Thanks for the input.Randy and Kris

If your exterior walls are fiberglass gelcoat, acetone should not hurt it - but it will strip off any wax or protective coating. Isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) is good for removing silicone sealant residue and will not harm your RV.

I’d try something like Goo-Gone long before you touch it with acetone.

Thanks folks. I do use Goo Gone but it does leave the residue. I’ll try the isopropyl and Goo Gone on the old silicone. Pass on the acetone for now.

Funny thing. This morning, I just replaced a lower ABS panel that I broke pushing the slide out and into a cinder block wall.
I used a razor blade to trim as much of it as I could, then used acetone to clean the rest of. Now keep in mind, this was on the skirt, which is aluminum. I have used acetone on the siding to clean excess silicone off of it after I resealed the edges. Once everything dried, I used Wash Wax All to rub down the areas. I do need to get some of the Aero Wax though.
