TV sound via Rockford Fosgate problem

I have a 2020 Momentum 353G we purchased used. The best I can tell, everything is hooked up correctly. I did a search and found some threads about how to get it to work correctly. Still, no luck. I have a Roku TV with a cable connected to the optical audio output on the TV and into the digital to analog converter. The converter is plugged into the same outlet as the TV so I can assume it's getting power. The RCA output is connected and I traced the wire to an area that would indicate it is connected to the back of the RF unit, but I can't see it to verify without taking things apart. I've checked the settings on the TV 3 times. The best I can tell is that the optical output is always on, so it should be getting a signal. I select TV on the RF unit and no sound. Any suggestions?

Is there an input on the stereo for either optical or analog? You may just have selected the wrong input for the stereo. Try the other inputs and see if any of them work. BTW, you're pretty new here, welcome to the forum.

Thanks for the reply. I went through all in selections and nothing.

Yes, we are new to the RV world.

Most D to A converters are powered via 5VDC from a USB adapter and have a power light on them to indicate they are on. Test a different outlet. And verify you have a red light coming out of the fiber optic cable from the TV to the D-A converter.

The RCA output is connected and I traced the wire to an area that would indicate it is connected to the back of the RF unit, but I can't see it to verify without taking things apart.
By connected, I assume that means the output of the D-A is connected to the speaker system. Be sure to select the right input on the speaker system. I would have guessed a Rockford Fosgate (or any modern speaker system) would have a digital input so not even sure where there is a D-A converter involved. You HAVE TO VERIFY connections - even if it is a hassle. I am not sure what you mean by "...connected to the back of the RF unit..." - what unit is that?

Beside selecting the external speaker output in the TV settings you also have to verify it is set to digital digital (assuming a Roku TV lets you make a selection). Then you probably need to find a setting for the digital output to be PCM vs. Dolby (or whatever Roku calls it). I'm not sure what "...I set the RV on the RF unit..." means; but I assume you have a picture on a working channel and that the audio for the TV speakers works.
I hope one of these tips or suggestions gets you going.

Thanks for the reply!! Still in audio hell. LOL

RF= Rockford Fosgate. It's a 2020 and the Rockford Fosgate system doesn't take an optical signal so there is a converter. There is a red light at the end of the optical cord that plugs into the converter. I've checked all the TV audio settings. The Sound system (Rockford Fosgate) lets you select your sound input, BlueTooth, FM, AM, USB and TV. All of them work except the TV. I've had it on TV and tried local stations as well as streaming. The optical audio signal is always on, so there should be a signal.

Guess the next step is to figure out how to remove the audio head to make sure everything is connected without breaking anything.

Guessing you have the RF PMX-1 (GD has used those). The AUX input has likely been renamed to TV. What you need to confirm is that a suitable signal is reaching the AUX inputs (the manual shows the AUX as a red wire serving a pair of RCA connectors. You'll probably have to remove the receiver to access that connector.

You may be better off using RCA from the TV instead of the optical output. My Roku has both (yours may be different) and you'd select one or the other through the audio settings on the Roku TV. Then you'd need an RCA cable (such as this one https://smile.amazon.com/AmazonBasic.../dp/B01D5H8PQ0). Plug one end into the TV RCA port, and the other into the receiver.

Wish I knew what I did, but it's working. Didn't have to pull everything apart. All I can think of is something wasn't connected all the way. Thanks for all the help!

Well, I figured out what happened because the sound quit again. When it was working, I noticed there was a red LED on the optical to analog converter. Next thing I knew, no more sound. I looked and the LED wasn't illuminated. Ordered a new converter and used the power supply to power the old converter and I have sound.
