    Freshwater drain broke off

While driving, road debris hit my freshwater drain valve assembly and broke it and a piece of the tank off.

Actually, it was hanging by some caulking so I was able to keep the broken valve assembly to so the insurance adjuster that a piece of the tank is attached.

The tank and valve assembly will need replacement.

Has this happened to anyone else?

I have read (don't remember where) that there are glues/cements that work on the material the tanks are made out of. You could check with GD and see what they say.

Yes. Had a ground strike leaving a gas station. Broke the connection at the tank so the tank had to be replaced. I had the dealer shorted the valve so that now it’s protected by the front Aframe where it runs back under the trailer frame. Dealer had a tank in stock. Took less than a week to fix. From my research, there is a special glue, but the fix isn’t that strong.

The adhesive Rob may be thinking of is called Plast-aid. https://www.plast-aid.com/
It has work amazingly well for repairing broken plastic parts on our hot tub.

Do some research. I believe the tanks are polypropylene to which this glue will not stick. When my drain broke off, the break occurred where the drain was spin welded to the PP tank. A non repairable break.

Nothing surprises me with the technology available in adhesives today. Keep doing your research. Things may surprise you also.

Bottom line, thanks for the replies. I like the idea of making the valve as short as possible.

My dealer will do the work to replace the tank.

I'll post the cost when complete.... Appointment to review the damige in 3 weeks.
