    Adaptive Steering Fault (Ford)

Hi all - My nearly 3-year old F-350 with 25K on the odo gave me an "Adaptive Steering Fault" on the dash the other day. Came up once about a week ago then went away. Yesterday it popped up again and seems to randomly come and go. I did some research online and most of the responses were a few years old. Anyone have any recent intel on this issue?

I'm reading of solutions ranging from a software update to replacing the batteries to a new steering wheel (yikes!).

If anyone has some light to shed on this I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

Yup, I'm also member there and already researched/posted the question. Just thought I'd reach out here too. Thanks!

Just in case anyone stumbles into this issue, here's how I netted out. . . .

With about THREE days left on my warranty, I was able to get into the Ford dealer in Butte, MT. (We're full time RV-ers and had to do some re-routing to find a Ford dealer with an opening in their schedule). After diagnosing batteries, codes, etc, they concluded I needed a new steering wheel which of course wasn't in stock (I didn't expect there to be one in stock). Further, he said there were only 12 steering wheel parts in stock in the US! I said I only need one so please order it quickly! About a week later, we circled back to Butte and the steering wheel is now replaced and I'm driving straight again. All fixed under warranty with no cost to me (well, other than the cost of fuel to get back to Butte).

All things considered, the Ford dealer in Butte served us well. Very polite, professional and did what they said they'd do.

Now we're living on the edge being out of warranty. Maybe I should order my next truck now. . . .

With the high cost of repairs any more with fuel injection and emissions for example that was one of our thoughts with buying a new truck. we also opted for the 5 year 7200 mile bumper to bumper warranty. With getting it through the dealer worked into the price the payments weren't too bad. The money we got on our old truck helped a lot. It is a good feeling though having that warranty.
