We are in the decision making stage if to join or not to join AARP.
Looks like there may be a few benefits that would offset the annual cost.
In addition to our pension, SS will kick in November 2022.
at this point: Life Members of Good Sam and Passport America, will be adding KOA, Pilot / Flying J through GS,
So if anyone has or hasn't or did or deleted etc, pros and cons of AARP???
    thanks,

yes do it.. political or not the Hartford insurance is by far the best money saver around..
you are not paying for all of the idiot 18 to 50 yearold drivers.. just the 50 and above..
I personally saved over 2200 on my insurance vs safeco (liberty mutual) ..
I have saved this amount every year since changing to Hartford and even upped the coverage by double and
am still saving almost the same amount or more..
I dont pay attention to the aarp politics and dont really use many of the other perks but some of them are pretty good.

I joined a year ago at age 50 and used it once to save $10/night for 3 nights at a motel. The membership was $12 so I came out ahead. That was the last time I have used it. I have tried it with other hotels but the internet rates are always as good or better than the AARP rate. Maybe it would be useful if you were on the road and didn't have a reservation. The restaurant discounts sounds great but there are a total of 17 restaurants on their list and I only recognize a couple of them, but haven't been to them in years. It sounds like it might be better for those 62 and up.

We've had AARP The Hartford for 5-6 years now. No complaints, buy they would not insure our new F450, so we went with Geico. And are paying a little less. We do not plan to renew AARP membership when it expires.

Never heard of AMAC, then a search included this in what was found - “ The Conservative Alternative Built on Faith, Family, and Freedom”

Great for those that fit, enough said.

Enough is enough folks. The OP asked why or why not to join AARP. You know - any benefits, advantages, good reasons to join or not join.

    Now it is turning political.

We'll leave these posts up but no more mentions, innuendos, comments, etc. about political policies or political leanings of organizations. This stuff is already borderline deletable for running afoul of our community rules regarding politics.

You choice - get back on topic or we can just close this thread out as it seems to have run its course.

If you want to push people to a political organization - this is not the place.
