I like the idea of the metal band lock as it encourages the would-be thief to move on rather than linger and make a lot of noise. Noise around my area generally produces a green laser dot dancing around someones head.

Yeah, it could but I've seen what a determined thief can do.

In my neck of the woods, you probably would be sent to jail if you pointed a 'laser' at someone and the thief would sue you.

I probably should move to an area that respected peoples property, but it's probably a bit late now.

That was my worry when i switched to lithium battery and rerouted the cables to under our bed and placed the battery there. obviously i wouldn't do that with regulal batteries. used the battery boxes to keep the sewer connections in it now.
never thought about the propane bottles, thanks for that reminder.

We use the webbed straps with metal clasps that are pinched to the metal framing underneath, then have two, 1/2 inch braded and shielded cables with two keyed 1/2-inch shanked locks around the boxes and through the battery shelf frame. But, with today's portable grinders and saws - if they want the batteries, they can get to them. Hopefully they won’t want to deal with it and move on. Once we go lithium, the battery goes inside.
