    Grand Canyon North Rim

Tami and I took a road trip from Bryce to GC North Rim. Using highway 89 south from Hatch through Kanab UT to Fredonia AZ on 89A then through the Kaibab National Forest to 67 into the park. Portions of the Kaibab forest has been decimated by wildfires. In fact a wildfire was burning on the very west side of the GC NR. In all about 134 miles from Hatch, a 2.5 hour drive. We left the RV in Hatch and stayed the night at the GC NR Lodge at Bright Angel Point, Setting on the back veranda at the lodge the view was amazing. The GC South Rim is by far the most visited but the North Rim was beautiful, not very crowded at all, at a lot of places we were the only ones there.

We drove back to Hatch this afternoon. So we have full filled our quest of experiencing the Grand Staircase visiting Bryce, Zion and Grand Canyon. Boy what a trip, and the scenery - fantastic!

While at GC NR, we drove the Cape Royal park road to Imperial Point at 8803 feet, Vista Encantada, Roosevelt Point, Walhalla Glades Pueblo, Angels Window and Cape Royal. A great drive but in some places very tight for a 21.6 foot dually on the switchback turns but plenty of room at parking overlooks. 22 foot vehicles are discouraged from driving on this park road. Oh, and we did manage the courage to walk out on top of Angels Window.
I could only select a few pics to post out the hundreds we took and the hours of video we shot. Enjoy.

The best description I have read or seen that explains the Grand Staircase (Grand Canyon, Zion and Bryce) is this video put together by the National Park Service,
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dVYnB-tKrfk

It really gives you a history of these national parks and how they are connected together.

Your pic of the dining area of the North Rim Lodge brought back memories of breakfast at a window table there watching a rare California Condor flying circles outside. The campground there is the only one where I have used my generator, necessary for a week's stay. Loved it!!
