Fire extinguishers are less expensive than therapy... but, if the paranoia is causing you problems, therapy might help in other parts of your life, too.

There are several varieties of these on the market. Not sure of quality or reliability. My only concern with these self activating extinguishers are if they get a hole wore in them bouncing down the road and making a mess. These tubes may be able to be mounted better with the small clearance behind these appliances. Again I cannot vouch for them but have seen them on rv and boat sites before.
As a now retired 27 year firefighter all I can recommend is get out/call 911 and alert your neighbors.
Unless you catch a fire in an rv in the immediate beginning the chance of extinguishing is low at best. The chance of being injured is high.
I am always glad though to see people thinking ahead and looking at the risks of fire in rvs.

Fair enough. I misunderstood. When you mentioned placing one in the basement I was getting the impression you were trying to be prepared to put anything out yourself.
Take a look at these Element extinguishers. I like the size and reported effectiveness. I have never had to use so I can't verify their capability.
