    Propane Sensor Going Off

I am having an issue with our propane sensor and looking for some insight. The sensor has gone off the last couple of times after we’ve set up our RV for the night. The propane was off at the tanks and hadn’t been on for several hours before the alarm sounds. I am pretty sure that we do not have a propane leak and there is nothing on that could generate carbon monoxide. As a precaution, I’ve traced the propane lines spraying soapy water on all the connections and didn’t see any bubbles. I’ve read that there have been issues with off-gassing or high humidity causing the propane alarm. It’s possible that the sensor is bad but it's only about year and a half old. Anyone else had the same issue and what did you do?

How old is your trailer? The detectors have a 5 year life span, take a look at it and find the manufacture date. That yr and a half may not be accurate. If it's dated you need to replace it.

They are also sensitive to beer spills, ours went off after Gary spilled a beer near it.

Dogs often set them off. Any hydrocarbon gas will trigger them and some dogs are known for their output.

Cleaning chemicals can do it also. My wife uses a Swiffer to do a quick clean of the floor after setting up, and it almost always sets the detector off until it dries up.

Thanks. I will pass that info on to my wife. I am usually outside setting up camp when it goes off and she is usually inside setting it up. Cleaning chemicals could be part of the issue. The weird thing is that is just started doing it and we've been using the RV for a year and a half.
