    Water Filtration....

When thinking of and viewing water filtration systems I am amazed at some of the pricing that is being asked for some of the systems. When I look at these systems I am basically looking at a 2, 3, 4, canister filter system that you purchase and then install the certain type of filters that you want for your system. The more canisters the higher the price. What is received is the number of canisters wanted and a frame to hold that amount of canisters. In most cases the type of filters that you want are purchased by you after purchasing the filter assembly. What I was interested in was a combination of 3 filters that were available as a package and was available for less than $70. Purchasing this as a complete unit from Clear Source was around $400 which makes their 3 canisters and metal frame being offered for the remaining $330. It really has so much more to do with the filter and not the canister. Does anyone know of a source to buy the canisters so as to build their own.

Do a search for threads started by me, I have a mod post that shows what I did and links to the products.

I also have comments on another water filter thread that has more pictures and more links.

A simple google search will find you all the canisters you want. You can fabricate a frame to hang them on out of pvc if you don't want to attach them to the wall.

We used the Beech Lane double canister in our travel trailer. Pretty reasonable compared to the ClearSource and comes with two filters. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07GBZ83HH

For our main and guest houses (water supply is from a spring), I purchase all of our replaceable filter media in case lots from Fresh Water Systems. Due to very high sediment, we go through a lot of filters! https://www.freshwatersystems.com/
We also get our spin down sediment, ice maker and under counter filters from them.

Absolute best on the market, superior to RO, IMO: https://www.berkeywaterfilter.com/
And portable, use it at home, take it on the road and no need to mess with anything. I add one of those standard $35 RV/Marine prefilters, and then keep the Berkey with us. Add the floruide filters if you worry about, as I do.

Note if anyone has one or buys one: The carbon filters can be cleaned up to 100x. If your water flow rate goes down, as it will if you have particulate in the water, then pull them out and simply clean them with a plastic scrub pad or textured sponge.

^^^^ That is what we do. One for the house, one for the camper. The Berkey Black filters remove glyphosate. Since we are on a spring, we don't have the fluoride filters for the home Berkey, but do for the camper Berkey. Only challenge with the camper Berkey is that need to keep the filter media wet otherwise we have to re-prime if its been awhile since we last used it. Not a big deal.

I just use the 10" filters we get from Fresh Water Systems. https://www.freshwatersystems.com/ We typically purchase the NeoPure brand filters. For the Beech Lane, we used a 5 micron sediment filter and a 1 (or maybe it was a 0.5?) micron carbon filter. Can't remember the brand of the carbon filter. We don't use the carbon filters in our home filter systems.

Here is the sediment filter that works in the Beech Lane: https://www.freshwatersystems.com/pr...39816389755064

And I think this is the carbon filter: https://www.freshwatersystems.com/pr...dge-0-5-micron

Thanks for the info. The filters are listed as 9 7/8" in length. I assume those are considered 10" and will work?

I'm actually looking for something to use on a home refrigerator ice maker.
