    2800BH towing with 2500 GM 6.6 Duramax

Is anyone towing a 2800 with chevy or gmc 2500 and 6.6 duramax?

Looking for real world mpg towing the 2800 at 65-70 mpg

Our 2021 chevy 6.2 gasser mileage is appalling.. 5-8 mpg at 65/70

No real world experience with that combination, but it doesn't sound out of line for those speeds.

    2800BH towing with 2500 GM 6.6 Duramax

Wouldn’t the 20k price difference plus pump prices of diesel buy a lot of gas?
How much do you drive towing?

Edit. 5-8 is a huge range btw. Which is it?
We never travel over 63mph and get great fuel mileage considering I am hauling a brick with my 5.3

Keep in mind the faster you go the fuel mpg drops drastically

I don't know of anyone who has invested in a diesel tow vehicle for the mileage - the numbers just don't work. Folks who tow with diesel engines do it because of the torque and engine braking.

First, I see this is your first post so welcome to the forum!

I have a 2019 GMC 3500 Duramax SRW. I tow a Reflection 315rlts (38ft and 11k) and I range from a low of 9.5 in mountain terrain and and as much as mid 11’s on flat. I usually set cruise at 63.

Agreed, and towing heavy does not lend itself to great mileage.

I have "some" experience with this. I had 2 gas powered TVs before going diesel in 2001, So one of my TTs was towed with both. In that case, milage increased by 30%... So if all else is equal that is what you are looking at... Finding such apples to apples comparisons are rarely equal though. My TVs have become much more capable over the years, as my RVs have gotten bigger. I curently get about 6MPG. But that involves several hard steep pulls, and we do not try to economize. I use th that diesel the way it was made to be used.
I put a 60 gallon auxillary tank on it to get the range I wanted.

Oh no it’s not just the mpg. Other reasons which were dealing with are less than 200 miles range per tank, being blown all over road and really just comfort of driving.

Mpg shown as instant on dash. Ended up being almost perfect when hand calculated.

8 mpg was steady 65 mph and about 1750 rpm’s. Anytime we go over the 2k rpm’s, really anywhere over 68mph the mpg dropped to anywhere from 5-7 mpgs. It seemed once we go over that speed the mpg we’re very volatile and went downhill quick.

Overall it just feels like the truck is pushed to its limit and it’s almost uncomfortable between the movement when towing, and the real lack of range. 200 miles doesn’t sound bad, until you realize that 150 miles into the tank, it’s a 911 to find a gas station……

Well the 2800 is a big trailer and without any cat scale tickets we can’t tell how much tongue weight you have. It is too big for a 1/2 ton imo.
This is why we went with 2400. Basically the same trailer just better suited to a 1/2 ton
It sounds like your hitch isn’t set up properly either if it is difficult to drive
Why the need to go so fast btw?
